The Main Lawn is by far the biggest in the garden and benefits from being open on pretty much all sides getting full sun for most of the day. It is perhaps the place where the most additions have been made to planting, but also where there are still beds which are ‘untamed’ and require further attention to bring them under control.

Planting around the main lawn is very much a work in progress and there are bits of the borders that despite work every year I have still not managed to keep under control (see below!). Anyway, that’s part of a gardener’s lot I always think. The job is never totally finished, and that’s ok.

Accept that and the happier you’ll be just pottering around, doing what you can and not worrying too much about the things which don’t get done. Part of the joy of having a garden, for me at least, is always being able to find a bit of something to do just to get you outside.
